Mika Kasai (b.1989)
Born in Nagano, Japan; based in Vienna.
Graduated in 2022 from the Department of Painting (Oil Painting), Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Currently enrolled at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

Mika Kasai approaches her work by observing the overall picture from an elevated perspective. What she depicts is not specific people, objects, narratives, or particular ideological statements, but rather something else entirely. Her works do not contain fixed motifs or unique subjects; instead, she reconstructs the spaces, situations, and compositions surrounding phenomena from her own distinct perspective on a flat surface.
This exhibition presents her first series of canvas paintings, produced last year.
